but nobody cares,
thier days shortly numbered,
frail bones and white hairs.
They sit sad and lonely,
their memories wain,
their bodies are failing,
their hearts filled with pain.
She's stuck in a wheel chair,
too weak to walk,
the nurses bring pills,
but don't want to talk.
Her daughter had cancer,
and didn't survive.
With no other children.
She is mad she's alive.
He tells lots of jokes,
on the bus every day,
the people change,
but all act the same way.
He feels he's invisible,
he's hurt they don't see,
the charming youth,
he used to be.
She talks to her husband,
although he's not there,
she smiles sweetly,
and pins up her hair.
that's how he likes it,
she quick to say,
she always pins it,
the exact same way.
Somewere there is joy,
a baby is born,
Photo in hand.Greatgrandma's forlorn,
She can't go to visit,
she's ninetyfour.
Nobody calls or
writes anymore.
A tear on his cheek,
she isn't to blame,
she's shrinks from his touch,
she knows not his name.
The next day he dies,
but she doesn't know.
The funerals given,
But she doesn't go.
He waters his flowers,
and hopes they will bloom,
they sit in the shadows,
of his dark lonely room.
She was the gardener,
and he really tries,
too nurture her plants,
but another one dies.
They slept side by side,
till they took her away,
now he's alone, and
cries everyday.
He can't sleep without her.
He's already tired, but
it's just not the same,
when she's not at his side.
Alone and forgotten.
Waiting to die.
Wondering who
Would even cry.
